We're up!

Looks like we’re back!

We’re still bringing the old posts over, but take a look around. Kick the tires.

I believe you have to have one approved comment before you can post at will, but we’ll work our way through that as soon as possible.

UPDATE: The old posts are all over and we’ve changed the yellow background on the sidebars. Theme switcher is in the works, but it’ll be a few days a least.

  1. Having used WordPress for a year or so and done quite a bit of digging in its entrails, may I humbly suggest Bad Behavior to help combat the comment spam. It’s quite effective. I get nowhere near the traffic that this site does, yet it has blocked 168 spam attempts in the last 7 days. I’ve not yet seen a false positive with it, either. Some spam still manages to get through, but very, very little.

I know y’all are real smart, but if you do happen to need any WordPress help, drop me a line. I would be glad to help out just to thank you for all the laughs. I love this site.

Also, while I know some will disagree, I prefer popup comments. The nice thing about WP is that you can have it both ways so that people who don’t like popup comments can just click the post title and get the comments in the page while the rest of us can have our popups. But as simple as it looks, implementing popup comments properly in WP can be a little tricky. Again, drop me a line if I can save you some time with the shortcuts I had to figure out on my own.

  2. DENSHA KITAAAAA!!

(Sorry, a joke for anyone here who might have watched/heard of “Densha Otoko”, which is unlikely. So, um…nevermind. Pretend you didn’t read this. These aren’t the droids you’re looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.)

  3. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
