LONG LIVE THE MEGA-POST!
You should be able to view it again, but Masako had to shut off the comments at…

She had to delete one spam comment to get it viewable again (link).
Please, let’s hear a big round of applause for all of you who posted in the Mega-Post and kept it alive for a year and four months. Please use this comment thread to post your fondest memories of the post with the most…
the Mega-Post.
Hey, where’d everbody go?
Booo!
Aaaack!
A ghost!
[scurries away]
Funny, the kneecaps are still attached and not shredded.
Any explanations?
Were you in a padded coffin? That would surely soften your landing.
I’m always in a padded coffin, except for the recreation hour.
Ah yes. Also the time I escaped.
We could cut leg holes in the coffin if that would help.
This thread is drifting towards a Monty Python sketch…
Thanks for the offer Del but it would create dreadful draughts.
This thread is dead in the water, stalled in the Horse Latitudes.
Time to throw someone overboard!
Not me!
(I stole the swimmies from the little one…)
Ace,
Where about on Black Beauty or Dick Turpin’s nag are the Horse Latitudes?
Between the fetlock and the shank.
So we would swim with the ponies and not with the fishes?
Just the heads.
Sounds to me like Del is volunteering to be thrown in…
@Nxxx,
When I think of dreadful draughts, I think of Guinness. And Moosehead. Two very good reasons to “Stay thirsty, my friend.”
Hoppy Indy Day, cousins.
Every year at this time, I try to declare my independence from something.
This year that something is the overbearing, stifling influence of my betters. They ain’t the boss of me!
Benny,
I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, it’s not that crap Dos Equis.
Couldn’t agree more, Steve. I mean, how good can a beer be when the brewer puts right there on the label that it already has two strikes against it?
And while we’re on the subject… You got a fave Philly brew you can recommend? It’s been a long time since I was up in Bethlehem…
I would try something from Yards (depending on where you live, you might be able to buy it by you).
Or Flying Fish (from the Jersey side of the Delaware, but still good).
We have some good sources here in NoVA, and I’m in NJ a lot, so I’ll look for ’em… thanks.
’round Christmastime, if you get down to New Castle, DE, you might look for Old Dominion’s seasonal ale… a limited run, and best they make. Small Craft Warning (from the Annapolis area) is downright delicious and packs a potent punch.
I’m told that, next time I go visit the Brits, I should go scout out a Hobgoblin, an Old Speckled Hen, and a Boddington. Sounds like a scavenger hunt to me…
I’ll let BroMu tell you about the Kent brewers and micro brewers, just try and hunt down Young’s Winter Warmer and the real Czech Budweiser.
Microbrewers are little elven folk who come out (very) late at night, after you’ve staggered onto the couch and crashed out. They pour some sicky drool into your mouth, hit your brain repeatedly with a jackhammer, empty your fridge, trash your toilet, then spray wee into your groin. And before they vanish back into the FaerieRealm they sprinkle PisstyDust back in time so that rather than everyone remembering you as the handsome, hilarious sophisticate you actually were the previous evening, they instead tell you you were a farting, belching oaf with no volume or bowel control.
Been on the Shepherd Neames or Westerham again?
Not me, I’m TT (not the exciting one, alas). This is all by observation.
Principally of my brother.
Who’s now a merchant banker.
Who’d have thought, eh?
You fellows lost me with all the brews, beers, and burping. Can’t we move on to omething more exciting, like elephant polo?
Elephant Polo is a Kentish game and for extra fun, we give the elephants plenty of Shepherd Neames or Westerham to drink. Plenty of broken legs.
You would not *believe* how big a mallet you need to shift those elephants. Then they go and get all tangle up in the goal net. We get through at least half a dozen dumbos every game.
The zoos are starting to get suspicious.
And here I was starting to wonder where you found horses large enough for the elephants to ride.
I had a resolve to only drink Michigan beer, but I broke that this summer. I found Summer Shandy by Leinenkugel this summer and love it on a hot day. Grilling veggies and drinking an ice cold Summer Shandy on the deck has been a good end to most days.
Ok that is me! For some reason CARS doesn’t love me anymore
On the deck?
You own a luxury liner, Del?
Must be grill like a pirate day again.
Ace, are you implying Del got her yacht by nefarious means, rather than the honest sweat of her prow?
In other news, let’s see how many of us are rendered Anonymous when we are Lionised and forget to re-enter our names. I know I will despite having just made that observation and muttering ‘Don’t forget to enter you name you muppet’ repeatedly as I post.
If we get enough Anonymice then maybe the FBI will give CARS a few extra hits and John will finally be able to buy himself that chin-graft he’s always wanted.
What about the de-Gruber-ization procedure? Wouldn’t that be more beneficial, in the long term?
Is that possible now, Steve? Or is the hybrid too embedded?
Unfortunately my deck is in the great American tradition and is merely planking attached to the house. The plus is the charcoal grill is less likely to flip over due to turbulent seas.
The believe the FBI gives out Viperkittens to get rid of Anonymice.
What about turbulent BBQ-ing?
Usually following beer intake and ‘discussions’ about how best to get the damn thing going?
I could’ve used one of those Viperkittens last night here in the homestead (IRL mouse). I’m not sure how well they would’ve gotten along with the dog, though.
There’s something wrong. Posted yesterday about why does Del grill charcoal and it is not there but a greyed out, inaccessible 103 does.
HELP!
Well that registered, can someone else try but do not insult John.
What? Try yelling for help? Never works for me.
HELP!
Insult John? Don’t make me laugh. He’s uninsultable. Besides, he never reads our comments. He has “little people” to handle chores like that.
Ace,
Promise me that John’s little people are not a product of Dellab.
Insult John?
Weeeeeell, I guess I’m wiling to step up to the plate (see – we’re not just all ‘cricket-cricket-cricket’, Nxxx and I . . . I like Rounders too…).
(*cough*)
I believe you’re almost there, Ace. But the truth is John doesn’t have ‘little people to handle’ his chores, but rather ‘little *handed* people to ‘handle’ his ‘chores”.
Ayethanku.
Oy vey.
I feel a jump coming up soon.
Maybe that will spark us out of this malaise. Or is it mayonnaise?
Get a charcoal chimney starter they solve all the issues of getting the briquettes going. Put the charcoal in the chimney starter, put newspaper underneath, light newspaper and in 10-15 minutes max you have nice hot charcoal for the grill. No lighter fluid needed!
I am hoping to grill corn this weekend as a couple of the early planters are starting to bring in local fresh corn.
Del,
Try grilling this.
Sir, would you punish a boy for something he has not done?
No fffanshawe minor, that would not be correct.
Well in that case Sir, I haven’t done my homework.
Makes excuses and exeunt left.
That was so funny, Gilda Radner forgot to laugh.
