  1. Furthermore, I resemble the person who wrote this. We’re like twins, but without the superfluous doppelgänger.

  2. I thought the person who wrote that had the eyepatch inside out? And at a slightly more jaunty angle.

  3. Not sure about “inside out,” but a man wearing his eye patch on the wrong eye is likely to miss a significant development or two, but one can’t blame him for wanting to protect the good one. They now prescribe safety goggles at Pirate Prep School.

  4. Ten days without comment is enough.

I vote we all give our opinions on puppies.

Personally, I’m in favour of them. I fear not the Twitterstorm that will doubtless ensue.

  5. Mrs. Steve G has stated that, if she were able to have a choice in the matter, she would like to be licked to death by puppies.

  6. A friend of mine in the sixties had a dog called “Poppy” despite obviously male characteristics.

Turned out that he was working as a solicitor in Norfolk, had bought the very young hound from a rustic local, who was actually using the local pronunciation of “Poppy” for “Puppy”.

  7. In a curious case of synchronicity, I have stated that, if I were able to have a choice in the matter, I would like to be licked to death by Mrs Steve G.

(While being watched by puppies, obviously.)

  8. I prefer not to proffer or offer an opinion on a whole class of people, whether canine or other. I’d rather meet the puppy personally and administer intelligence and aptitude tests before publishing an evaluation.

The most general thing I can say is that puppies are cute and worth investing in if they are not stupid.

  9. BroMu, should the Mrs and I get ourselves across the pond, you can ask her yourself. (Wearing a suit of armor might be advised.)

  10. Good lord, Steve, I’m British. I’m not allowed to talk to ladies unless first introduced by two relatives and, ideally, a vicar. Who absolutely is not allowed to be one of the ladies. Unless it’s that nice Dawn French, who doesn’t count.

  11. Cannot get involved as my counting finishes at two.

As such, will someone explain “third base” please?

  12. Since cricket doesn’t have bases, and only two wickets, there is no way to explain it to you. I might as well try to explain a foul ball.

  13. Oh thank god. I thought Ace was getting autobiographical. And anatomical.

    Rarely a good combination.

  14. Ace, since I don’t want to give the spammers any incentive to find me ever, I’m commenting here on your comment there (whilst running the risk of creating a comment tunnel here).

What shall I use to hold my breath in?

  15. I got a Grinch flashback while reading all that.

So perhaps you hold it in the Cat’s lovely Hat?

  16. Could someone look in on Nxxx? I am afraid he may have fallen victim in a Morris dancing accident.

  17. Ace, is Perpetuity anywhere near Absentia? I can imagine that the journey would take me through Confusion and Denial.

  18. According to the song, you don’t cry a river until the other person cries a river over you first. Kind of a chicken/egg problem, I think. Maybe it starts with silent whimpering alternating back and forth, escalating until eventually rivers are cried. What I don’t get is where the salt from the tears goes, as rivers are not that salty.

Perhaps I’m overthinking this. It might just be “an expression.”

  19. Thanks for sharing this. I was searching for the same form some time ago and found a great service with a huge forms library. Filling out forms is super easy with PDFfiller. Try it on your own here IRS 1040 and you’ll make sure how it’s simple.http://goo.gl/T8IJ7e

  20. Wow, Shaun seems a really helpful bloke. And very appreciative of our efforts. Moreover, I’m a big fan of anything ‘super easy’.

It’s how I met my wife, after all.

  21. Yup. She’s very organised. I usually need everything in triplicate to stand any chance of anything else ending similarly suffixually.

  22. I remember when my wife was filling out her form. It turned out that she was “with child,” which later led to filling out more forms (of the paper kind).

  23. I can’t believe you’re all letting me hang here . . . with that slightly creepy perv-post as my legacy.

Obviously an *appropriate* legacy, but still.

  24. Sorry, BroMu. I was busy trying to extricate myself from the European Union. It was so stifling. They were always trying to tell me what to do and how to do it, as in a bad marriage. I guess I’ll have to go back to minting my own money again.

  25. Forgive me as I am old but you are back.

    Hip hip……………………………………………………………

  26. Good news, cousins. Having listened intently to the very mature and in no way hilarious discussions of Brexit across our various media, it turns out that our rejection of the EU (a political institution) also involves our rejection of the entire geo-cultural entity of Europe itself. Which means triggering Article 50 will presumably cut us adrift from said continent, leaving us to bob slowly towards the US. So, you know, cheaper flights to NY and lower latency in our awesome chats here. Phew. If I’d known all that I wouldn’t have defaced my ballot paper by blubber-stamping it with my big, sweaty arse.

That said, given the jaw-droppingly funny streams of mental micuration dribbling forth from both sides of the debate currently, I hereby propose we run a referendum *every goddam year*, just for the laughs. Next year, ‘Which is the better pet: cat or dog’. That should keep twitter busy for a while.

How are things with the rest of the world, by the way? We kind of missed all that minor stuff like the FARC ceasefire and Falluja’s liberation while gazing intently at our navels and muttering ‘Innie . . . or Outie?’

  27. Your arrival just off our eastern seaboard should make for easier trade of goods and cultural exchange. Please bring toad-in-the-hole, bangers and mash, and that brewed beverage that is somewhere between a liquid and a solid.

    Will Scotland be coming along?

  28. Oh, and as to the silliness in the US, I am very curious to see what the state of things will be after the presidential condenders have been thrown in the clinker.

  29. BroMu,

I tend to get my Anglo fix from the British Milhouse. He’s quite funny. I hope you’ll not try to take him back.

  30. From trans pond ham radio this morning. Was not participating as my signal dives into the Atlantic just off Cornwall or the Scillie Isles, if lucky.
“Every time Obama mentions gun law, we go out and buy up all the ammunition” “He’s made a fortune for Smith and Wesson” all accompanied by hi, ham speech for LOL.

    BTW what does LOL mean?

  31. We can’t afford him Steve.

And I pray you’re not, Ace.

Even though I definitely can’t afford *that*.

  32. Oh Noble Cousins,

May we wish you a happy Independence Day Celebration.

A Certain Mr. Farage, forename Nigel, pronounced Niggle, has declared June 23rd to be ours.

    Oh well, back to sleep.
