  1. And you can break off the fuzzy bits because they’re frozen. Like I do with the neural ganglia in my brain after drinking a KFC Malteser Krushem too fast.

  2. Yes, ditto regarding the LD celebrations. Is there turkey? I just presume there’s turkey in the mix somewhere.

And my favourite remedy is to drill holes in the top of my head to let the infernal Demon of Headache out. He generally proves quite hard to locate, however, so my skull now looks like the grill on the new Mac Pro. Sadly the processing power it encases is altogether less impressive.

  3. On this side of the pond, there’s always a turkey involved. Now apparently more orange colored.

BroMu, at least your head has good ventilation.

  4. BroMu, thanks for mentioning the new Mac Pro. I sometimes forget that this place is all about crazy apple rumors. Hey, I heard that Granny Smith and Pippin McIntosh were found in a pie together.

  5. As you know, the poverty of the average UK old age pensioner has reduced me to Ubuntu and Windows 10. Although my lovely Mini Macs were also based on Linux, do not remember sitting there for a quarter of an hour, two mornings running whilst Linux and then Ubuntu updated.

  6. Count your luckies, Nxxx. Every afternoon now, when my daughter comes home from her new secondary school, I have to sit around for well over an hour getting updated. And it’s pretty much all vapourware.

  7. BroMu,

You might be able to save some time if you converted to the spellings from this side of the pond. Like you could save a “u” from vaporware…

  8. I still write ‘programme’, Steve. It’s a sickness really.

Talking of which, have you noticed that Our Lord John has returned from his somewhat extended leave of lurgie to grace us with a new CARS post? Confused the hell out of me when I arrived just now I can tell you.

  9. I don’t want to get overly excited about new posts, unless this is the restart of something good, like more and continuous new posts.

  10. Fourteen years? Phew. Is that all? For a moment I thought we’d all wasted a significant chunk of our lives swilling around in a fruitless stew of our own making.

  11. It’s what we’ll all get if we ever meet up, get drunk and hatch ‘The Plan’ that’s presumably been brewing subconsciously on this thread for all these years.

  12. Well, whichever continent we meet on will determine who will have to acquire the “supplies” for said plan. Since I imagine customs officials will not let us import said “supplies.”

Whilst the above may invite the attention of various governmental authorities who think we’re up to something, would said governmental authorities please let us know what said something is? Because if you’ve been reading this thread, you’ll clearly see that we have no idea.

  13. I think that can be generalised somewhat, Steve. As doubtless keen students of history, philosophy and cultural-relativistic socio-paradigm studies, I’m pretty sure we can assert there’s a lot of expletive made up on any side of any pond. And the Earth has many ponds. With sadly more than enough life to fill them.

  14. As Frank Zappa is reported to have said, “Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.”

  15. Alas, it was a missed opportunity for many. However, I’m sure another diversion will come along soon, like International Talk Like A Car Salesman Day.

  16. I half missed (or should that be half-mast?) TLAPD. My son saw a leaflet on it (who knew?) and said ‘What’s the point in that?’ Whereupon I shivered his timbers and keel-hauled the scurvy dog with a blast of stunningly authentike piratese. But then forgot to post anything similar here.

    My apologies.

  17. Hey there, Cai.

Last time I checked, I was not yet dead. Perhaps I should draw up a will specifying that someone notify the Giga-Post upon my demise and announce that I left it all to Charity, whoever she is.

  18. Hurrah. Cai has returned. I fear for you if you haven’t got anything better to do. I’ve been searching for that Grail for many years now. But still no luck. The pisstakery draws me back . . .

I can confirm that I too am not dead. Yet.

    But I am resting.

  19. Took a while but Steve, all kicking over ip seems to arrive at this address. Have tried to flog it to the Premier League but no tackers so far.

  20. I noticed, in the comments on the the most recent article posted to CARS by Moltz, that some consider that CARS is “back” or “up and running,” but without the bountiful commenting that we remember from past ages, I feel it is a weak argument. We need quantity as well as quality to initiate a new Golden Age of CARS.

  21. Quality? You came here looking for quality?!?

    Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Oh… that’s funny.

Wait? What were we talking about again??

I’d consider CARS to be “back” when there’s a bit more regularity with Mr. Moltz’s posting. And if we could find some long lost friends. Maybe they’re just stuck in the tunnels???

  22. Alas, Steve, my doctor cannot decide whether my regularity is irregular or merely regulation for one of my advancing year. He’s very much caught between two stools.

  23. The Baker Street Irregulars are recruiting new members, and they are now admitting those of an advanced age, due to the distracted condition of the youngsters. This may be the opportunity that knocks!

  24. Neither of you have any distinguishing characteristics discernible in your “names.” Perhaps you can describe yourself in your comments (Example: “I am the one that looks like me.”)

  25. In the light of the preceding discussion, I have decided names are part of the Patriarchal Conspiracy and shall henceforth be known only by a series of symbols. Specifically: ‘Brother Mugga’.

    FREEEEEEEDOM!
